Firearm and Drug Raids Rock East London and Essex
Two men have been arrested after dramatic early-morning raids in east London and Essex uncovered a stash of firearms, drugs, and tens of thousands in cash.
Massive Haul in Dawn Raids
At 4:40am on Tuesday, 13 October, Met’s Specialist Crime South officers, backed by the Territorial Support Group (TSG), swooped on homes in Newham, Dagenham, and Essex. The operation targeted suspects linked to a violent organised crime group (OCG) involved in drug and firearm supply.
The haul was staggering. Police seized four firearms and ammunition, a kilo of cocaine, about £50,000 in cash, plus a kilo of cannabis from a property in Grays. They also found 30 cannabis plants growing in a Dagenham loft, alongside a high-tech keyless car theft kit, a zombie knife, and a sword hidden inside a walking cane.
More Cash and Ongoing Searches
An additional £10,000 was recovered from a Newham address on Varley Road. Officers are continuing searches at another location in the area.
Suspects in Custody
Two men in their 30s were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs and conspiracy to possess firearms. Both remain held at a south London police station.
Detective Superintendent Steve Ellen said: “The warrants this morning further show our commitment to tackling drug supply and the violent crime that is inextricably linked to it.”
