Armed Man on Roofs Sparks Huge Police Alert in Brighton
Emergency services swooped on Brighton’s Five Ways area tonight after reports of a suspected armed man climbing scaffolding and perching on rooftops near Ditchling Road.
Counter Terrorism Officers and Police Helicopter Scramble
Counter Terrorism armed officers rushed to the scene as the NPAS police helicopter kept a tight circle overhead for around an hour.
Police conducted thorough searches of local gardens, deploying a drone to scan the area from above.
Sussex Police Confirm Incident Under Control
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Police responded to a disturbance in Ditchling Road at 6pm. A section of the road has been closed as officers remain in attendance.”
They added: “This is being treated as an isolated incident with no threat to the wider community.”
By 11pm, officers began scaling back their presence, signalling the situation was coming under control.
