BBC’s Gemma White KC Extends DJ Abuse Probe Deadline
Gemma White KC, appointed by the BBC in August after a fast-tracked internal review into troubling allegations against a DJ, has extended the deadline for evidence submissions. The call for evidence, launched last month, will now remain open until Friday, 2 December.
Independent Safeguarding Expert Joins the Investigation
The BBC has also brought in independent safeguarding specialist Jahnine Davis to support the ongoing review. Gemma White KC praised Davis as a “respected and experienced expert” who will join her for meetings and conversations during the probe.
Gemma White KC Urges Witnesses to Speak Out
“Some of you have told me how difficult it has been for you to take the decision to contact me,” White said. “I understand that speaking about sensitive matters can be painful and there are many things that you have needed to consider before doing so.”
“Others have wondered if their information is relevant or important — my answer is simply yes. I want to hear from everyone with anything to say.”
“If you’d like Jahnine to join conversations, please let me know. If you have questions or concerns about sharing information, please reach out. I want to make this process as comfortable as possible.”
