Baseball Bat Attack Outside Southampton Pub Lands Man in Jail
Lewis Kerby, 27, from Bursledon, has been locked up for 32 months after a savage baseball bat assault outside the Robin Hood pub in Southampton.
Brutal Street Brawl Ends in Hospital
The incident unfolded just after midnight on 19 August. An argument inside the pub spilled onto the street in South East Road. Kerby swung a baseball bat at a man in his 30s, who was trying to defend his brother. The victim suffered a fractured skull that needed surgery, leaving him with a metal plate in his head and a large scar on his scalp.
Swift Justice After Shocking Attack
Kerby pleaded guilty at Southampton Crown Court on 22 November to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. Detective Constable Hayley Channell praised the police and licensing teams for their quick action.
“This was a serious incident witnessed by many people where the victim was brutally assaulted. One of our priorities in Southampton is keeping people safe in and around our pubs, bars and clubs,” said DC Channell. “When incidents like this happen, offenders can expect a swift response and to be brought to justice such as in this case.”
Southampton authorities continue to work with door staff and local councils to crack down on violence near nightlife hotspots.
