Eight fire engines and water carriers rushed to tackle a huge fire tearing through a property on Sunnyside Road, Sandgate, near Folkestone. The emergency call came just after 5pm on Christmas Eve.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service is at a house fire in Sunnyside Road, Sandgate. Eight fire engines and a bulk water carrier are on scene, working hard to put the fire out. We advise everyone nearby to close windows and doors as smoke is drifting in the area. Please share this info with anyone who might not have internet access.”
