Derby Trio Found Guilty After Knife Party Horror

Derby Murder and Manslaughter Verdicts After Knife Party Mayhem

Chardon Carlington Carnagie, 19, from Derby, has been found guilty of murder. Alongside him, 18-year-old Mykel Elrol Paddifoot and a 17-year-old girl, both also from Derby, were convicted of manslaughter following a brutal knife attack. The grim verdict came after a nine-week trial at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday 21 March.

Party Turns Deadly: Knives, Guns, and Bloodshed

The shocking case began when a group from Derby’s 123 gang complained about being snubbed from a party. Mykel Paddifoot sent a chilling text reading “ching man up,” which an expert confirmed meant to either “get ready” or “bring a knife.”

Carnagie drove from Derby in a silver Astra to the party. The 17-year-old girl left the gathering and joined Carnagie and Paddifoot in the car. Phone records confirmed frequent contact between Carnagie and Paddifoot throughout the night.

The trio cruised back to Derby but made a stop at Paddifoot’s 123 base in Stretton before heading to Bridgeside, Stretton. They arrived around 1:20am, just before chaos erupted.

Witnesses Describe Masked Attackers Armed With Knives and Guns

Partygoers described several attendees wearing balaclavas, face masks, and gloves. Some were visibly armed—one carrying a blade, another a gun. One witness saw Carnagie brandish “something shiny” and witnessed him punch a guest. The same victim suffered two slash wounds to his leg. Another bystander spotted a masked man clutching a knife.

Oliver, the victim, was stabbed during the fracas. CCTV footage showed the Astra and a Nissan Juke leaving in convoy at 1:32am. Forensic tests later revealed Oliver’s blood on Carnagie’s shorts, the 17-year-old girl’s dress, and a foot mat inside Carnagie’s Astra. Crucially, Carnagie wiped his phone clean with a factory reset before his arrest.

Detective Speaks Out: Justice Served, But Pain Remains

“Some covered their faces, at least one carried a knife and another had a gun. Oliver was stabbed and another guest received slash wounds only minutes after arrival. None of the suspects tried to help or call for aid. Oliver bled out while they fled the scene,” said Detective Inspector Adrian Webb.

Sentencing will follow at Stafford Crown Court, with local Crime Commissioner Ben Adams praising emergency services and advocating for wider availability of bleed kits. He said:

“It’s fantastic that bleed kits are now being deployed in Staffordshire Police vehicles, alongside knife wands. We remain forever grateful to the emergency teams and Oliver’s friends who fought desperately to save him despite his catastrophic injuries.”
