Speeding Jaguar and Mercedes Kill Pedestrian on Sheffield Road
Two reckless drivers racing down Wheatley Hall Road caused a fatal crash that ended the life of Carl Queen, who was just crossing the road to get home after a night out.
Deadly Drag Race Ends in Tragedy
On 30 July 2020, Jordan Lill, 26, and Christopher Milsom, 34, were speeding and overtaking each other along Wheatley Hall Road in Doncaster. At around 11.15pm, Lill’s Jaguar XF struck 34-year-old Carl Queen as he crossed the road after being dropped off by a taxi.
Carl was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed he died from multiple injuries sustained in the crash.
Driver Flees Scene but Justice Catches Up
Lill stayed at the scene, but Milsom initially returned only to flee again. Police later tracked him down.
7 Years Jail and Driving Ban for Fatal Speeding
At Sheffield Crown Court on 28 November, both men pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. They were each sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and slapped with five-year driving bans.
“Lill and Milsom’s behaviour that night was utterly senseless and callous,” said PC Richard Thorley from the Serious Collisions Unit. “Both were driving far beyond the 40mph limit. Their actions caused the death of a pedestrian simply making his way home after an evening out.” “I am pleased both men pleaded guilty and will now spend time behind bars. My thoughts remain with Carl’s family as they continue to come to terms with their tragic loss.”
