Violent Rampage in Snargate Street Shop Ends With Four-Year Jail Term
Kurt Collins sparked chaos after a Sunday evening argument on 16 September 2023 at a Snargate Street shop. What started as a row with a staff member quickly escalated into a brutal assault and vandalism spree.
Shopkeeper Chased Outside, Attack Turns Ugly
Following the heated spat, the shopkeeper trailed Collins outside. The confrontation shifted from pavement to van. Collins, inside his vehicle, suddenly stopped and unleashed fury with a metal levelling edge from his van’s back.
When the staff member tried to stop him again, Collins attacked with both the metal tool and a bat, leaving the victim seriously injured.
Serious Head Injuries and Swift Police Action
The victim was left battered on the pavement with grave head wounds, requiring urgent treatment at a London hospital. Police quickly tracked down Collins, 35, from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and arrested him the very same night.
Four Years Behind Bars for Brutal Assault
Canterbury Crown Court found Collins guilty of unlawful wounding on 19 April 2024. He was sentenced to four years in jail, which includes an additional two months for criminal damage to the shop.
Detective Constable Martin Aird said: “This was an extremely violent attack prompted by a petty argument with a man who was just doing his job. Collins left the victim lying on the pavement. The assault could have been far worse if not for the swift action of doctors and medics. I am pleased Collins was quickly arrested and jailed, and I hope this brings some reassurance to the victim during his recovery.”
