Murder Investigation Launched  After Elderly Man’s Death

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have initiated a murder investigation following the tragic death of an elderly man in Co Armagh. The victim, in his 70s, was discovered with severe head injuries at a residence in Crossmaglen.

The incident came to light after police were alerted to the man’s death at a property on Annaghmare Road around 19:00 on Saturday, 15 June. Upon their arrival, officers found the body of the man in the bathroom, prompting an immediate investigation into the circumstances of his demise.

Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Kelly is leading the inquiry. He stated: “Our inquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding his death, and officers remain at the scene.”

In connection with the case, a 67-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder and is currently being held by the police.

DCI Kelly has issued an appeal to the public for assistance: “I am appealing to anyone who believes they may have information that could assist us with our investigation to contact us on 101, quoting reference 1435 15/06/24.”
