Pop star Will Young has dodged a driving ban after being caught using his phone behind the wheel near his Calne home.

Will Young Caught Phone in Hand on Oxford Road

The 46-year-old singer was spotted scrolling on his mobile while driving his green Volkswagen Golf on Oxford Road on 28 March 2025.

Young’s flashy £1 million Georgian townhouse is less than a mile from where he was nabbed.

Court Shows Mercy Over ‘Exceptional Hardship’

At Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 30 September, Young admitted guilt but claimed a driving ban would cause “exceptional hardship.”

“Exceptional hardship was found because it would have significant impact on your issues and there is no alternative for you in your position,” the court said. “Secondarily, the ban would have an impact on the charitable causes you support.”

The magistrates agreed, sparing Young a ban despite him already racking up 12 points on his licence.

He was fined £666 and ordered to pay £90 costs to Wiltshire Police, plus a £266 surcharge.

Will’s Previous Driving Drama

This isn’t Young’s first run-in with the law behind the wheel. Back in 2018, he smashed his Mercedes into a parked car on the A68, narrowly missing the driver who jumped out of the way.

He was slapped with a £600 fine, five points on his licence, and a six-month ban for accumulating too many points, BBC reports revealed.
