Stalker and Sexual Abuser James Green Jailed for 18 Years
James Green, 37, from Lancing, has been sentenced to 18 years behind bars after a shocking spree of sexual abuse, stalking, and harassment against two victims. The 1 Crown Court handed down 12 years in prison plus six years on extended licence following a string of damning convictions.
Horrific Campaign of Abuse Exposed
Green’s terrifying offences sent shockwaves through the local community. He targeted a woman in her 30s, bombarding her with harassment. He vandalised her property, stole jewellery, and left abusive notes scrawled on her fence. In a chilling twist, he even moved into a nearby home to stalk and intimidate her further.
Simultaneously, Green groomed and manipulated the woman’s teenage relative. In August 2023, he raped the vulnerable teenager at his home. Despite bail conditions banning any contact, Green relentlessly hounded her with over 1,600 calls and messages over four months. He sent explicit videos and threatened her to drop the charges.
Justice Delivered But Scars Remain
The judge slapped Green with a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and restraining orders to keep the victims safe. Detective Inspector Harry Doyle from Sussex Police branded Green “a dangerous man who inflicted severe emotional and psychological harm.”
“This case shows the strength and bravery of those who speak out,” DI Doyle said. “Their evidence ensured Green was brought to justice, and he will no longer be able to harm anyone else.”
Police Urge Victims to Step Forward
Sussex Police emphasised the importance of reporting stalking, harassment, or sexual abuse. They promised all complaints will be treated with the utmost seriousness and sensitivity.
James Green will serve his lengthy prison sentence and remain under close supervision for six years on licence, protecting the public from further threat.
