Devastating Mitcham Blaze Rips Through Family Home
Inferno Destroys Lewis Road House in Early Morning Fire
Heart-stopping photos reveal a two-storey semi-detached house on Lewis Road, Mitcham, gutted by a ferocious fire. The blaze broke out at 8.10am and wasn’t under control until 10.45am, leaving the property completely destroyed.
Neighbours’ Homes and Car Suffer Damage
The raging fire didn’t stop at one home. Flames partially damaged a neighbour’s roof and a nearby parked car was burnt beyond recognition. Photos from the scene show a blackened, gaping hole where the house once stood and a demolished back fence — stark evidence of the fire’s power.
Fire Brigade’s Rapid Response Saves the Day
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson revealed: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to Lewis Road after receiving 26 emergency calls starting at 8.11am.” Crews arrived from Mitcham, Tooting, Norbury, Sutton, and Wallington stations, battling the blaze tirelessly until it was under control by 10.43am.
“A semi-detached two-storey house was completely destroyed by fire,” the spokesperson confirmed. “A small part of the next door house’s roof was damaged, and most of a car parked outside was also destroyed.”
Cause of Blaze Remains a Mystery
The London Fire Brigade has launched an investigation but the cause of the devastating blaze is still unknown.
