Emergency services have been called to the railway line between Minster and Wye this afternoon (Saturday) after reports that a person had been hit by a train.

The incident occurred on the Southeastern network, affecting services running between Ashford International and Ramsgate via Canterbury West. All lines have been closed while emergency crews respond at the scene.

A spokesperson for Southeastern said:

“A person has been hit by a train between Minster and Wye. So that the emergency services can safely carry out their work, all lines are closed.”

Trains operating through the area are expected to be cancelled, delayed by up to an hour, revised or diverted via Dover Priory, with disruption expected to continue until around 5pm.

“We are very sorry for the disruption caused. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic incident.”

The British Transport Police has confirmed it is attending the scene and will conduct inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
