Emergency Cordon After Unexploded Bomb Handed into Fareham Police Station

Chaos erupted at a Fareham Tesco yesterday after an unexploded bomb was dropped off at the nearby police station.

Bomb Sparks Major Evacuation

At around 1.46pm on November 22, a suspected unexploded ordnance was handed into Fareham Police Station on Quay Street. Officers swiftly acted, setting up a 100-metre cordon and evacuating several buildings, including the Tesco store opposite.

Bomb Disposal Team Steps In

The Royal Navy’s Ordnance Explosive Disposal team arrived promptly to deal with the device. They safely removed the bomb, allowing police to lift the cordon once the threat was neutralised.

Tesco Shoppers Flee as Precaution

Shoppers inside Tesco had to leave quickly amid the emergency evacuation. Local police confirmed safety was their top priority, ensuring no one was put at risk during the incident.

“The Royal Navy Ordnance Explosive Disposal team attended and took the device away before the cordon was lifted,” a Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said.
