Rapist Salam Karis Finally Caught After Years on the Run

Salam Karis, 35, has been found guilty of three counts of rape. The horrific attack took place in 2014 when Karis targeted a young woman out with friends in Oxford city centre.

Police Act Fast, But Rapist Flees UK

Thames Valley Police moved quickly, identifying and arresting Karis on the same day. Despite being charged, Karis was released on bail — only to skip bail and flee the country.

Back on UK Soil and Straight to Custody

Authorities didn’t stop hunting him. After reissuing a Fail to Appear warrant, officers arrested Karis immediately upon his return to Kent.

“Justice catches up with you,” said a Thames Valley Police spokesperson.

Karis is set for sentencing on 11 March 2026. The victim and local community hope this marks the end of a long and painful chapter.
