Man Shot in Back After Savage Street Chase in Wolverhampton
Four men have been slammed with a combined jail term of over 100 years for a terrifying attempted murder in Wolverhampton. The victim, 45, was shot in the back during a brutal chase through Horseley Fields on the night of 18 September 2024.
Tyre Slashing Sparks Violent Gun Attack
It all started when the victim’s grey Mercedes had its tyres slashed outside a pub on Harp Street. As he left, the attackers tails him through the streets. The gang opened fire at Minerva Street, shooting the man in the back. Amazingly, he survived and was treated in hospital before being discharged.
Four Men Face Long Jail Terms for Attempted Murder
- Richard Beckles, 44, Telford – 30 years
- Cleon Johnson, 39, Walsall – 30 years
- Khyle Gayle, 31, Birmingham – 30 years
- Constantine Campbell, 52, Tipton – 27 years
A fifth man, Michael Soledolu, was found not guilty.
Police Praise Teamwork in Nabbing Gunmen
“Although their intended target survived, shots fired on the street terrify everyone. We won’t stand for this in our towns,” said Detective Inspector Francis Nock from the Major Crime Unit.
He added, “The criminals used multiple vehicles and pick-up points to cover their tracks. But we pieced it all together. That’s how we secured these tough sentences.”
