Firefighters rushed from Castle Donington, Coalville, and Loughborough stations to tackle the flames. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue confirmed no casualties but warned motorists to brace for hold-ups as the incident develops.

“Emergency services are in attendance. Allow extra time if travelling in the area or heading for the airport,” said National Highways.

The blaze is ongoing. Drivers are urged to seek alternative routes and expect disruption if travelling near East Midlands Airport.
