In a bombshell crackdown, City of London Police have arrested three men, including Mukund Krishna, CEO of the Police Federation of England and Wales, over suspected fraud. The sting follows a year-long probe into alleged financial wrongdoing within the Federation.

Raids and Arrests Across Four Counties

  • Operation Kuat saw simultaneous raids at addresses in Wales, Somerset, London, and Surrey.
  • The Federation’s national HQ in Leatherhead, Surrey, was also searched.
  • Arrests include a 46-year-old Surrey man (Krishna), a 51-year-old from Wales, and a 55-year-old from Bristol—both reportedly Federation board members.

City of London Police Speak Out

“Over the last year the City of London Police Domestic Corruption Unit have undertaken a significant investigation into allegations of fraud by abuse of position relating to the national Police Federation. On 4 March 2026, officers executed search warrants to arrest suspects and gather evidence. The investigation remains ongoing,” said Detective Superintendent James Halkett.

Controversial CEO Faces Turmoil

Mukund Krishna’s tenure has been mired in controversy. A former management consultant, Krishna is the Federation’s first civilian CEO, raking in a jaw-dropping £701,100 annual package—more than double the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s salary.

Just a day before the arrests, the Federation pushed for a minimum 7% pay rise amid worries over officer morale and recruitment. Krishna was also slammed by the High Court in February for the unlawful suspension of two Federation officials, sparking calls for his resignation.

Ongoing Investigation and What’s Next

No charges have been filed yet as detectives probe multiple leads in this complex case. The Police Federation has yet to comment publicly. The City of London Police urge anyone with information to come forward via the Major Incident Public Portal.

This explosive saga unfolds amid a backdrop of past Federation financial scandals, including recent convictions for misuse of funds.
