Dyfed-Powys Police have released a striking digital facial reconstruction of a man whose body was discovered in Claerwen Reservoir back in October 2024. The move aims to finally crack the baffling case and put a name to the unknown victim.
Body Found in Reservoir – No ID, Just a Wetsuit
The man was found by a walker on October 17, 2024, wearing only a wetsuit. No other clothing, jewellery, or transport was nearby. He had no tattoos, scars, or marks to help ID him. Experts estimate he’d been in the water for up to 12 weeks before being found.
16 Months of Dead-End Leads
Since then, detectives have exhausted every avenue. They’ve cross-checked missing persons’ reports across the UK and overseas, scanned fingerprints, dental, and DNA records, and issued appeals to the public – all coming up empty.
Detective Inspector Anthea Ponting said: “Without any ID or belongings other than his wetsuit, we’ve worked tirelessly across UK forces and Interpol. Each public tip has been followed up, but so far, nothing has solved who this man is.”
Who Was He? Age and Build Revealed
The unknown man was white, of European descent, aged roughly 30-60 years old, around 6 feet tall, and weighed between 202lbs and 220lbs (91.5-99.5kg). Now, working with Face Lab at Liverpool John Moores University, police hope the new facial image sparks breakthrough sightings or tips.
