Body Found in Welsh Reservoir Sparks Mystery
Dyfed-Powys Police have unveiled a dramatic digital facial reconstruction of a man found dead in Claerwen Reservoir last October. The haunting image is a fresh attempt to solve the baffling case and finally give the victim a name.
Man Found Only in Wetsuit – No Clues to His Identity
On October 17, 2024, a passerby spotted the body submerged at Claerwen. The man wore only a wetsuit. No ID, jewellery, or transport was found nearby. There were no tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. Experts believe he had been in the water for up to three months before discovery.
16 Months of Dead Ends Frustrate Police
Since then, detectives have hunted every lead to no avail. Missing persons records from the UK and abroad, fingerprints, dental checks, DNA analysis, and public appeals have all drawn blanks.
Detective Inspector Anthea Ponting said: “Without any ID or belongings other than his wetsuit, we’ve worked tirelessly across UK forces and Interpol. Each public tip has been followed up, but so far, nothing has solved who this man is.”
Who Was He? Age, Build and Appearance Revealed
The unidentified man was white, European descent, aged between 30 and 60, about 6 feet tall, and weighed roughly 202 to 220 pounds (91.5-99.5kg). Authorities teamed up with Liverpool John Moores University’s Face Lab to create the new facial image in hopes of sparking fresh leads.
