A man has been locked up for two-and-a-half years after hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons—his third knife crime conviction.
Raul Maretic-Ramos Caught Threatening With a Knife
Raul Maretic-Ramos, 23, was caught red-handed by Peterborough City Council enforcement officers on 3 March last year. He had threatened a man with a knife in Cathedral Square, sparking a police response. Officers arrested him on the spot.
Denied Charges but Found Guilty at Cambridge Crown Court
The Manor Gardens resident from Stanground, Peterborough, denied threatening anyone with an offensive weapon in public. However, after a trial at Cambridge Crown Court in December, he was found guilty. He also admitted possession of cannabis during the incident.
Sentenced to 30 Months Behind Bars
On Monday, 9 March, Maretic-Ramos appeared at Cambridge Crown Court once again and was handed a hefty 30-month jail sentence for his repeated knife offences.
