A violent abuser has been jailed after a terrifying attack in Dartford left a woman fearing for her life — all while her young child looked on.
Matt Satchell’s Savage Assault
28-year-old Matt Satchell launched the horrific attack at the victim’s home on 9 August 2025, following an argument. He shoved the woman to the floor, pinned her down, and muffled her screams by covering her mouth and nose.
He then bit her nose, shoved his thumb into her eye, and slapped her repeatedly — shouting vile obscenities as the child watched helplessly.
Emergency Call Leads to Arrest
When the victim tried to escape and asked for her phone, Satchell turned violent again. Unwittingly, she’d called a relative during the struggle. Hearing the commotion, the relative alerted the police.
Officers found Satchell had fled the scene but tracked him down later in Stone. He was arrested and charged with intentional suffocation and actual bodily harm.
Justice Served at Woolwich Crown Court
Satchell denied the charges but was found guilty after trial. On 9 March 2026, he was locked up for three years and slapped with a five-year restraining order.
“This was a terrifying and sustained attack carried out in front of a young child, and Satchell was completely out of control,” said investigating officer PC Ellie Rose.
“The victim showed enormous courage in coming forward despite her fears. I hope this outcome allows her to start rebuilding her life.”
“There is never any excuse for domestic abuse. Support is available and we work closely with charities to help victims break free from the cycle of violence.”
