Wolverhampton Man’s Jail Term Boosted After Brutal Hit-and-Run Attack

Harry Jones, a Cradley Heath local from Wolverhampton, has had his prison sentence hiked by four years. Originally jailed for 10 years, the Court of Appeal slammed on an extra four after the Solicitor General called the original sentence “unduly lenient”.

Road Rage Turns Violent After Social Media Feud

The drama began on November 4, 2019, when Jones clashed with colleague Daniel Tulley. The pair arranged a showdown via social media. Jones drove to Tulley’s home and threatened his partner before tracking Tulley down on Clayhanger Road.

Hit-and-Run Leaves Victim Fighting for Life

The confrontation escalated horrifically when Jones slammed into Tulley with his car. Tulley was flung off the bonnet as the vehicle stopped. Jones then shocked onlookers by fleeing the scene — without checking if Tulley was okay.

Tulley suffered severe injuries, including emergency brain surgery, and spent more than a month in hospital. The crash left him with long-lasting health problems.

Justice Tightened to Send Clear Message

Solicitor General Michael Tomlinson KC MP didn’t mince words: despite Jones being “a respected local businessman”, his actions were “reprehensible”. He highlighted the devastating, lifelong damage inflicted on Tulley.

“Leaving someone for dead has serious consequences,” Tomlinson said as the court bolstered Jones’ sentence to 14 years. The move sends a stark warning to anyone thinking of turning violence into a hit-and-run.

Jones was first sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on July 21, 2023, for grievous bodily harm with intent. The Sentencing Review saw justice served tougher on November 14, 2023, when the Court of Appeal extended his sentence.
