A violent abuser has been locked up after a brutal attack in Dartford left a woman fearing for her life — all while her young child looked on in horror.

Matt Satchell’s Savage Home Assault

28-year-old Matt Satchell went on a rampage at his victim’s home on 9 August 2025 following an argument. He shoved the woman to the floor, pinned her down, and muffled her screams by covering her mouth and nose.

His assault didn’t stop there. Satchell bit her nose, shoved his thumb into her eye, and repeatedly slapped her, all while shouting vile obscenities as the terrified child watched helplessly.

Emergency Call Cracks Case

The victim tried to flee and asked for her phone. Satchell turned violent again, but during the struggle, she accidentally called a relative. Hearing the chaos, the relative quickly alerted police.

Satchell fled the scene but was soon tracked down and arrested in Stone. He faced charges of intentional suffocation and actual bodily harm.

Three Years Behind Bars at Woolwich Crown Court

Though Satchell denied the charges, the court found him guilty after trial. On 9 March 2026, he was sentenced to three years in prison and handed a five-year restraining order.

“This was a terrifying and sustained attack carried out in front of a young child, and Satchell was completely out of control,” said investigating officer PC Ellie Rose.

“The victim showed enormous courage in coming forward despite her fears. I hope this outcome allows her to start rebuilding her life.”

“There is never any excuse for domestic abuse. Support is available and we work closely with charities to help victims break free from the cycle of violence.”
