Iman Sepahvand Sentenced to Eight and a Half Years for Stabbing in Bootle

An “irate” takeaway worker launched a savage knife attack on a colleague using a vegetable chopping knife in a bloody dispute that had been brewing for months. Iman Sepahvand, 39, from Orrell Lane, was jailed for eight-and-a-half years after being convicted of wounding with intent at Liverpool Crown Court.

Months of Religious Disputes Boil Over in Violent Stabbing

The violent clash erupted in the kitchen of Toscana’s Pizza and Grill on Stanley Road, Bootle, on August 4, 2024. Prosecutor Tom Challinor revealed that Sepahvand and co-worker Mohammed Bakhshi had a long-standing feud, mainly fuelled by religious disagreements.

“They did not get on,” said Challinor. The simmering tensions exploded when Sepahvand, apparently losing his temper mid-food prep, grabbed a vegetable chopping knife and repeatedly stabbed Bakhshi in the chest. The victim managed to flee the scene but collapsed in the street from his injuries.

Attack Culprit Skips Court, Convicted in Absence

Sepahvand refused to appear at his trial, but the court proceeded and handed down a hefty prison term in his absence. The brutal attack shocked the local community and cast a spotlight on tensions simmering behind the scenes in this Bootle kitchen.

Police confirmed the sentence following the conviction, ending what they described as a “disturbing and violent episode” sparked by prolonged workplace hostility.
