A teenage boy was left fighting for his life after a savage stabbing in Gateshead. Now, two men have been jailed for the vicious attack.
Horrific Assault on Morris Street Sparks Panic
Just after 3pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025, a passerby raised the alarm about a man’s welfare on Morris Street in the Teams area of Gateshead.
Emergency crews arrived to find the 19-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds. His injuries were life-threatening, and he was rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, he was discharged a few days later.
Stabbing Took Place Elsewhere – Victim Moved Post-Attack
Police quickly set up a cordon on Morris Street but soon learned the stabbing did not happen there. A second cordon was established outside the Teams Social Club on Derwentwater Road, where the violent altercation actually occurred.
The victim was then transported to Morris Street on an electric bike after the incident.
Two Men Jailed After Guilty Pleas
Despite the victim refusing to cooperate, Gateshead CID arrested two men, aged 18 and 23, on suspicion of attempted murder. A 22-year-old woman and two other males (19 and 21) were also detained but released without charge.
Argenti Jahelezi, 19, from Balmlaw, Beacon Lough, and Lewis Thompson, 23, from Carnforth Gardens, Beacon Lough, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on January 5, 2026.
They both pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, a lesser charge than attempted murder.
On March 12, the duo were sentenced to six years and four months behind bars each.
