Young Man Stabbed 20 Times in Broad Daylight
Jaheim Nyende-Horsford, 20, launched a savage attack on a youth in Derwent Street, Greenwich, last May. The victim was stabbed a shocking 20 times, including five wounds inflicted when he lay helpless on the ground.
Stabbing Triggered by a Simple Question
At Woolwich Crown Court, prosecutor Gregory Wedge revealed what sparked the violence. Nyende-Horsford “held a grudge” after the victim asked if he had any cannabis. He walked away but returned minutes later, armed with a large knife and wearing a balaclava.
Judge Condemns Brutal Daylight Attack
Judge Ben Gumpert slammed the attack as “savage” and said it shook witnesses, including children. The victim suffered a 20cm scalp laceration and lost a critical amount of blood, which nearly cost him his life.
Claimed Self-Defence, Jury Didn’t Buy It
Nyende-Horsford, from Banning Street, Greenwich, insisted he acted in self-defence after alleging the victim had punched him first. The jury rejected his story and found him guilty of grievous bodily harm.
Past Trauma Cited But No Excuse
His defence lawyer said Nyende-Horsford, who walks with a limp after being stabbed two years earlier, only carried the knife for protection. In a letter to the judge, the defendant pleaded for mercy and a second chance.
“I was scared of being stabbed again and being horribly injured or killed. I ask and kindly plead with the court to have mercy on me, to forgive me and give me a second chance in life as everyone makes mistakes.”

10 Years Behind Bars
Judge Gumpert noted the exact reason for the grudge wasn’t clear but confirmed Nyende-Horsford intended to attack the victim when he came back armed. He sentenced the violent attacker to a decade in prison.
