Police Hunt Two Men Over Shocking Homophobic Attack in Stamford Hill
Detectives have released images and footage as they hunt two men linked to a brutal homophobic assault and robbery in Stamford Hill.
Victim Assaulted and Robbed at Knife-Edge Junction
The attack happened just after 1am on Sunday, 26 July near the busy junction of Seven Sisters Road and Amhurst Park. The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking across the road when two men shouted homophobic abuse at him before launching a violent assault.
The victim suffered minor injuries. The thugs stole his headphones and tried to snatch his phone before fleeing the scene.
Descriptions and CCTV Released
- Both suspects are white men in their mid-20s.
- One is around 5ft 6ins, sporting a beard and a green baseball cap.
- The other stands about 6ft 2ins with curly blond or ginger hair, wearing a leather jacket over a T-shirt.
Police have gone public with CCTV footage showing the pair running away along with e-fit images created with the victim’s help.
Detective Pleads for Witnesses to Step Forward
“This was a vicious attack, made worse by the hateful abuse aimed at the victim,” said Detective Sergeant James Rush. “We urgently need anyone who saw what happened, or recognises the men in the footage, to get in touch. Every piece of information could be crucial.”
Officers have already spoken to a man who was in the back of a large black car passing the scene. They are still searching for a woman in a white car who stopped to ask the victim if he needed help.
