Young Man Stabbed 20 Times in Broad Daylight in Greenwich

In a shocking daylight attack on Derwent Street, Greenwich, 20-year-old Jaheim Nyende-Horsford viciously stabbed a youth 20 times. The victim suffered brutal wounds, including five stabs while lying helpless on the ground.

Violence Erupted Over a Simple Question

At Woolwich Crown Court, prosecutor Gregory Wedge revealed the chilling trigger behind the attack. Nyende-Horsford “held a grudge” after the victim asked if he had any cannabis. The suspect walked away but returned minutes later, armed with a large knife and wearing a balaclava.

Judge Condemns Attack as “Savage” and Disturbing

Judge Ben Gumpert slammed the assault as “savage,” highlighting how the brutal daylight stabbing shocked witnesses, including children nearby. The victim sustained a 20cm scalp cut and lost life-threatening amounts of blood.

Self-Defence Claim Falls Flat

Nyende-Horsford, from Banning Street, Greenwich, claimed he acted in self-defence after alleging the victim punched him first. The jury saw through his story and found him guilty of grievous bodily harm.

Defence Cites Past Trauma, Victim’s Aggression

His lawyer argued Nyende-Horsford only carried the knife for protection, recalling a previous stab injury that left him limping. In a poignant letter, he pleaded for mercy:

“I was scared of being stabbed again and being horribly injured or killed. I ask and kindly plead with the court to have mercy on me, to forgive me and give me a second chance in life as everyone makes mistakes.”

Jaheim Nyende-Horsford Sentenced to 10 Years

Judge Gumpert said the exact cause of the grudge was unclear but confirmed Nyende-Horsford intended to attack when he returned armed. The violent youth was sentenced to a decade behind bars for the savage stabbing.
