Chaos in Benidorm’s Busy Holiday Hotspot

Poseidón Palace’s roof collapsed without warning, leaving damage in the main restaurant where guests had gathered. The exact cause remains unknown. Municipal architects have been dispatched to investigate the incident and assess the damage. Pere Joan Devas, general manager of Poseidon Hotels, said he was “very shocked” when the ceiling gave way on the holidaymakers. The victims’ nationalities have not yet been confirmed but are believed to all be tourists.

Benidorm’s Rough Run of Hotel Collapses

  • This is not the first ceiling collapse in Benidorm’s hotels in recent years.
  • In 2025, part of the Gran Bali hotel’s entrance roof crashed onto the pavement – luckily, no injuries.
  • In 2023, a hotel in the Rincon de Loix district suffered a partial collapse during renovations, delaying reopening.

Benidorm City Council is taking the incident seriously, with experts inspecting the site to prevent any future disasters for the thousands of holidaymakers flocking to the Spanish hotspot.
