A heartbroken brother has paid a moving tribute to his beloved sister, Zahwa Mukhtar, after she was fatally attacked following a rave in east London.

Brother Remembers Zahwa’s Strength and Smile

Jamaluddin Mukhtar spoke in court, describing Zahwa as “a remarkable young woman shaped by hardship and extraordinary perseverance.” “She became deaf at three due to meningitis but never let her disability hold her back,” he said. Known for her “constant smile and infectious laughter,” Zahwa inspired others to believe in themselves. Her brother added, “Her warmth, kindness and belief in the potential of others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.” “Losing her has left an immeasurable void in our hearts. A beautiful, determined and loving soul whose absence will be deeply felt forever.”

36-Year-Old Ordered to Serve Life for Horrific Attack

Duane Owusu, 36, brutally threw Zahwa out of an overcrowded Mercedes and knocked her out with a single punch after the rave. Instead of helping, Owusu and his friends drove off as the aspiring accountant lay on the pavement at 4:30am, suffering a fatal head injury.

Life Sentence Delivered

On Tuesday, Judge Richard Marks KC handed Owusu a life sentence with a minimum term of 16 years and six months behind bars.
