A 30-year-old migrant with admitted Taliban links has been jailed for two-and-a-half years for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl at a taxpayer-funded hotel in Acton, west london/">London, last September. Afsar Safi, who arrived in the UK in 2021 and whose asylum claim citing Taliban affiliation was rejected, lured the child away from her mother before dragging her down a corridor and carrying out the attack. Safi targeted the young victim at the publicly funded hotel where he was staying while his asylum claim was processed. Using an apple to lure the girl, he led her away from her mother before committing the assault.
