Times Square was buzzing like never before as tens of thousands packed in for the first completely unrestricted New Year’s Eve party since the COVID-19 pandemic began. No masks, no jabs, and no social distancing – just pure, unfiltered celebration.
Back to Normal Amid Gloomy, Misty Weather
Despite the dreary, misty skies, revellers showed up early on Saturday morning to claim top spots in the iconic New York hotspot. The annual shindig, previously throttled by limited capacity rules, was back in full swing.
Confetti filled the air while couples stole kisses to ring in 2023, proving that despite the weather, spirits were sky high.
Star-Studded Lineup and Classic Tunes Set the Tone
- Performers included 1 Cutler, JVKE, Ava Max, Osmani Garcia, New Edition, Chesca, and legendary band Duran Duran.
- Just before midnight, 1 Cutler gave a heartfelt rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” leading thousands in a singalong.
As the clock struck 12, New York City Mayor Eric Adams grabbed the spotlight, pushing the button to set the famous Waterford Crystal ball plunging down its pole amid neon lights and explosive fireworks.
Classic Songs Close Out the Night
Partygoers belted out “Auld Lang Syne” before the evening exploded into a jubilant rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York,” as confetti rained down, marking the return of the world’s biggest New Year’s bash in spectacular style.
