Leeds Solicitor Shot Dead in Shocking Nighttime Attack
Tragedy struck Leeds on Saturday night when local solicitor Khuram Javed, 51, was found with suspected gunshot wounds on Clough Road, near Bramall Lane. Police were called to the scene at around 9.40pm after reports of shots fired.
Man Arrested for Murder After Stabbing in Beeston
Later the same night, at 11.53pm, police responded to a stabbing at a property on Bismarck Street, Beeston. The victim, also 51, was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance crews.
A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. The victim and suspect are known to each other. West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are leading the investigation, with forensic teams scouring the scene.
Community Mourns Brilliant Solicitor and Sheffield Graduate
The close-knit community and family paid tribute to Mr Javed, a University of Sheffield law graduate who worked at a local law firm on London Road. The ‘Justice for All People’ campaign posted on Facebook:
“It is with great sadness to announce the tragic death of Khuram Javed, son of Javed Khan. Family and friends have expressed their grief for the loss of a respected solicitor and young professional.”
Allama Iqbal Sunday Cricket League also shared their sorrow: “It is with great sadness to inform you that our beloved brother Khuram Javed has returned to Allah.” They asked for dua that Allah grants him janat al firdos (highest paradise) and gives his family sabr (patience).
One mourner commented: “Very sad news about the death of Khuram Javed at such a young age and in tragic circumstances. I’ve known him since childhood – one of the best kids I have known all my life.”
