Woman Found Dead in South London – Man Arrested
Police were called just after 1am on Saturday, 31 October to a home in Raynard Close over concerns for a woman’s welfare. Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene but, despite their efforts, a 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead.
Man, 71, Held on Suspicion of Murder
A 71-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a south London police station. Officers say the woman and man were known to each other. A crime scene is still in place as investigations continue.
Specialist Detectives Take Over
Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the inquiry. They are working alongside South West Area officers to piece together what happened.
Superintendent Richard Smith said: “My thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends. This appears to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the community.”
“Our local neighbourhood teams will be out all weekend to keep Londoners safe.”
