Man Dies After Brutal Assault Near Canvey Island Pub

Just before 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to a shocking scene in the car park of Iceland on Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island. A man was found injured, having allegedly been attacked moments earlier near The Haystack pub.

Despite emergency crews’ best efforts, the victim sadly died at the scene.

Police Launch Major Investigation

Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood, leading the probe, said: “I want to extend my condolences to the family of the man who has died. Our team is working tirelessly to figure out what happened and are piecing together the events around this assault.”

He urged witnesses to come forward: “If you saw what happened or have any information, please contact us.”

Area Cordoned Off – Major Disruption Expected

Authorities have sealed off a wide area including Furtherwick Road and Long Road. Canvey town centre is expected to face significant disruption throughout the day as detectives work.
