Man in 20s Found Dead on Sandy Hill Road – Police Launch Murder Probe
Tragedy struck early Thursday morning when a man in his 20s was found collapsed and lifeless on Sandy Hill Road, SE18. Emergency services arrived at 7.48am but sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crime Scene in Place as Police Hunt for Clues
A crime scene remains sealed off while cops dig into what happened. The victim’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard, leading the investigation, urged locals: “Sandy Hill Road is a residential area and I would ask anyone who was in that area early on Thursday morning to get in touch if you saw anything unusual or out of place.”
“Please check any doorbell or dashcam footage – even small details could be vital.”
Community Reeling as Police Promise Action
Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, responsible for policing Greenwich, Lewisham, and Bexley, expressed sympathy for the victim’s grieving family: “My thoughts are first and foremost with the family coming to terms with this loss.”
He acknowledged the shock felt by the local community and encouraged residents to speak with local officers and voice any concerns. “I will be meeting with community leaders to discuss how we can work together to curb serious violence,” he added.
