Kent Police, backed by armed officers, rushed to Orchard Flats on Cumberland Avenue just before 3pm on Sunday. Paramedics treated the boy at the scene before he was airlifted to a hospital in London. Now in critical condition, the youngster has since been moved to a specialist centre, according to his aunt, who tried to rescue him by pulling the dog away.

Family Ties and Arrest

The boy is related to the dog owner’s partner. The man, believed to have been responsible for the animal, was arrested at the scene. Officers seized the dog, thought to be a French Bull Bullmastiff.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

One witness recalled, “We had been talking about taking the dog for a walk. I can’t believe this happened.”
