Tragic Blaze at SE13 Home Claims Life of 5-Year-Old Boy
Early Saturday morning horror unfolded in Russett Way, SE13, when a fire ripped through a residential property. The London Fire Brigade alerted police at 5.56am after receiving reports of the blaze.
Three Injured, Youngest Victim Dies
- A 34-year-old woman and two boys, aged five and 14, suffered injuries.
- All were rushed to south London hospitals.
- Tragically, the youngest boy died just before 8am despite emergency efforts.
A post-mortem will take place soon, though police have yet to publicly confirm the child’s identity. All victims are related.
Fire Believed to Be Deliberately Started
Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith said: “We’ve worked closely with the London Fire Brigade and now believe the fire was started deliberately. No third parties are suspected, and only the three family members were inside at the time.”
“The wider family has been informed and our specialist officers are supporting them through this awful time. We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward so we can piece together what happened and help the family find answers.”
