Man in His 70s Dies in Suspicious Circumstances in Heywood
Police rushed to a property on Hardfield Street, Heywood, Rochdale, on Sunday 29 January after concerns for a man in his 70s.
The man, later identified as 75-year-old Geoffrey Ives, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have now launched a murder investigation amid suspicions surrounding his death.
Police Launch Murder Probe, No Arrests Yet
A small police cordon remains in place but is causing no disruption to local residents. Detectives are working round the clock to unravel the mystery behind Geoffrey’s death. No arrests have been made so far.
Detective Chief Inspector David Moores said, “Our thoughts are with Geoffrey’s family during this difficult time.” The family has requested privacy as the investigation continues.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Officers from the Rochdale district are maintaining a visible presence in the area to reassure the community amid growing shock.
DCI Moores added, “We believe this is an isolated incident with no wider public risk. We thank the public for their patience and cooperation.”
