Armed Hostage Drama Rocks Gravesend
Chaos erupted in Gravesend in the early hours today, as a tense hostage situation unfolded near the Riverside Leisure Area. More than 10 emergency vehicles, including police and ambulances, flooded Milton Road shortly after 1am.
Windows Smashed, Standoff Underway
The incident reportedly took place near Milton Place, just off East Terrace, close to the former Pilot Pub now converted into flats. Armed police have sealed off the area between Prospect Grove and Milton Place. Officers are currently locked in high-stakes negotiations with a suspect believed to be behind the ordeal.
Witnesses say first-floor windows were smashed, and household items hurled to the ground. Bystanders have been cleared from surrounding streets for safety.
One Feared Seriously Injured
Rumours swirl linking the situation to an event held last night. Unconfirmed reports suggest one person may have been seriously hurt, though police have yet to confirm casualties.
“It’s really shaken everyone up. You don’t expect something like this on your doorstep, especially after a party night. There’s a real fear that someone’s seriously hurt,” said an eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous.
