Bomb scare sparks lockdown at Portsmouth hospital
Police plunged the QA Hospital in Portsmouth into lockdown after staff spotted a suspicious vehicle on site tonight. Officers from Hampshire Constabulary raced to the hospital just after 7pm following urgent calls from hospital security.
Hospital sealed off amid threat
Authorities immediately cordoned off a wide area around the suspicious vehicle. Dozens of staff and patients were moved away from the danger zone. Police blocked all public access to the hospital grounds.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in to examine the vehicle, while firefighters from Hampshire’s rescue services were also deployed. Patients were told to keep away from windows during the high-tension stand-off.
Threat lifted after thorough investigation
QA Hospital staff confirmed: “Police were called after our security team spotted a suspicious vehicle near the main entrance. Emergency services arrived quickly to assess the risk.”
Thankfully, after a full sweep, officials declared there was no threat to patients or the public and lifted the cordon. “The incident was fully investigated and has now been stood down. Thanks to everyone for their swift action,” the statement added.
