Man Shot Dead in Croydon at Early Hours

Police rushed to Birdhurst Road, Croydon, just before 5am on Saturday, 2 October, after reports of a man shot. Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service, fought to save him but the 35-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Murder Probe Underway

A post-mortem is set to take place, while a murder investigation is now underway. Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin of Specialist Crime is leading the inquiry.

“My thoughts are with the family of the victim. They will be supported by specialist officers,” said DCI Goodwin.

“We believe the victim attended a party near Birdhurst Road that stayed on into the early hours of Saturday morning. We urge anyone who was at that party to come forward.”

“Even if you didn’t see or hear anything significant, please contact the police. We also want to hear from anyone with dashcam or other footage.”

There have been no arrests so far. Police are desperate for any information to crack the case.
