£15K Worth of Crack and Heroin Seized in Major Drug Bust
Essex Police teamed up with the Met, Eastern Region Special Ops, and Hertfordshire Police to raid properties in Chelmsford, Colchester, and London this Monday morning. The swoop netted crack cocaine, heroin, and cash totalling around £15,000.
Crack and Heroin Ring Dismantled
Detective Chief Inspector Lewis Basford, from the Serious Violence Unit, revealed the raids targeted the notorious Max and TJ drug lines. These gangs supplied crack and heroin from London into Chelmsford.
“Gangs operate across borders and wherever there is demand. We’re dismantling them at every level, cutting their links and making it harder for them to operate,” Basford said.
Vulnerable Victims Caught Up in Deadly Trade
Basford warned about gangs exploiting vulnerable people, including children and teenagers, for profit. They use violence and fear to keep their grip tight.
Police Urge Public to Speak Out
Chief Superintendent Andy Mariner, who commands policing in Chelmsford’s north area, praised the daily fight against drug dealers despite Covid-19 challenges.
“We never stop catching criminals and keeping people safe. If you spot drug dealing in your area, please report it. Your info helps us crack down faster,” Mariner urged.
