Christmas Night Horror: Woman Shot at Wirral Pub

Elle Edwards was enjoying a festive night out with her sister and friends at the Lighthouse Inn in Wallasey Village, Merseyside, when tragedy struck just before midnight. The 27-year-old was fatally shot in the head in a shocking attack that also wounded four others.

Not the Target – Gunman Still on the Loose

Police believe Elle was not the intended target. The gunman fired shots at the pub’s front door shortly after 11.50pm and fled in a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly an A-class Mercedes, spotted leaving the scene. Authorities are urgently hunting the suspect and asking anyone with information to come forward.

Community in Mourning

“Heaven gained the most beautiful angel,” said Elle’s colleagues from Nova Studio beauty salon on Instagram. “We are all heartbroken and are thinking of your entire family right now, Elle. Thank you for all the laughs and happiness you brought into our lives. Rest in paradise, angel.”

On Boxing Day, family and friends gathered at the pub to lay flowers, led by Elle’s devastated father, Tim Edwards. Police described her family as “inconsolable” and made a heartfelt public appeal for information.

Other Victims and Local Reactions

  • A 28-year-old man remains in critical condition in hospital.
  • Three other men, aged 22, 24, and 33, suffered leg, hand, and wrist injuries but are expected to recover.

Wallasey MP Angela Eagle called the shooting “senseless” and expressed heartbreak over the violence shadowing the usually “very settled, good community.” She urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact Merseyside Police immediately.

“Merseyside Police are extremely experienced in handling these tragedies,” she said, acknowledging the recent surge in violence across the region.

The Lighthouse Inn released a statement calling the incident “a tragedy beyond words,” sending condolences to Elle’s loved ones and everyone affected by the appalling night of violence.
