Fatal Crash Shuts Down A12 Near Lea Interchange
A 30-year-old man from Camden has died following a serious collision on the westbound A12 near the Lea Interchange in Hackney. The crash happened around 6:16pm on Saturday, 10 May 2025, involving a motorcycle on the elevated section of the roadway.
Emergency Services Respond, But Rider Dies at Scene
The London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance raced to the scene. Unfortunately, the rider was pronounced dead on arrival. The victim’s next of kin have been informed.
Police say no other vehicles appear to be involved at this stage, but the investigation is ongoing.
Police Appeal: Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
Detective Sergeant Rob Groombridge, leading the probe, said:
“Sadly, a 30-year-old man died yesterday following a road traffic collision in Hackney. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“We are working quickly to understand what happened on the A12. Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area between 6pm and 6:30pm on Saturday is urged to get in touch.”

Officers are especially keen to hear from drivers with dashcam footage recorded on the A12 westbound near the Lea Interchange during that half-hour window. Even unintentional footage could prove vital in piecing together what went wrong.
