Firefighters battled a fierce roof blaze in Canterbury’s Wincheap this afternoon. Kent Fire and Rescue Service were scrambled just after 3pm to tackle the flames threatening nearby homes.

  • Crews donned breathing apparatus and attacked the fire using high-pressure hose reel jets and powerful main jets.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported and all residents were safely evacuated.

Police Control Traffic as Firefighters Contain Blaze

Kent Police managed traffic and kept public safety a top priority while crews worked tirelessly. The fire was out by 3.53pm, but firefighters stayed on to damp down hotspots and assess damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire experts will inspect the scene over the coming days to find answers.
