Blaze Rips Through Cowplain Bungalow After Garden Fire Spirals Out of Control
Firefighters Race to Tackle Fierce Bungalow Blaze
Firefighters are locked in a fierce battle with a massive fire that tore through a bungalow in Cowplain. The chaos began when a garden fire quickly spread to a fence, then exploded onto the property itself.
The emergency call came in at around 2:30pm from Hazleton Way. Fire crews from Waterlooville, Horndean, Havant, and Cosham flooded the scene, with police scrambling to manage snarled traffic nearby.
Roof “Well Alight” as Firefighters Fight Back
On arrival, crews faced a terrifying sight: the bungalow’s roof was “well alight,” prompting immediate action to contain the blaze and stop it spreading further.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire Service said, “Electrical engineers were called in to isolate the power, while police managed the scene. The fire raging in the roof space was tackled with hose reel jets, and crews remain on site damping down the last hotspots.”
Fire Cause Traced Back to Garden Blaze
Despite the daunting flames, firefighters managed to extinguish the main fire. However, teams stayed at the property to ensure safety and hunt down any lingering embers.
The Fire Investigation Officer confirmed the cause: “The fire started from a garden blaze that spread to a fence before engulfing the bungalow.”
Residents Urged to Stay Vigilant
Authorities warn residents to be extra careful with open fires, especially during warm weather when fire risk jumps. “Following fire safety rules is vital to prevent tragedies like this,” the spokesperson added.
