A 52-year-old man, believed to be David Chick, has caused a stir by climbing a towering 2,420ft crane in Canning Town, east London. The protestor unfurled a bold banner declaring “dads lives matter” and plans to stay perched atop the crane for several days.

Police Keep Watch as Man Scales Crane

Officers were called to Hallsville Road at 7:30am on 31st March 2021 after Chick climbed the crane beside a busy building site. Police remain on scene, monitoring the protester’s dramatic demonstration.

Banners Deliver Powerful Messages

Chick first displayed a banner reading “black lives matter”. He then expanded the message to say “Black lives matter as much as whites”. The protest also spotlighted dads, with a banner claiming, “Dads’ lives matter just as much as mums’ – enough is enough.”

The cab of the crane has been decked out in Spiderman material and bright red balloons, catching the eyes of locals. Chick’s Spiderman outfit has drawn crowds, including children, eager to see what he will display next.
