On Monday, January 8, 2024, at around 7.51pm, a garage fire broke out on Lade Fort Crescent, Romney Marsh. Kent Fire and Rescue Service sprang into action, sending three fire engines to tackle the flames.
Firefighters Stop Flames in Their Tracks
Fire crews arrived swiftly, equipped with breathing apparatus and high-pressure hose reel jets. Their quick and decisive response doused the fire before it could spread beyond the garage.
Two people at the scene were treated for shock and smoke inhalation but thankfully didn’t need hospital care.
Faulty Tumble Dryer Suspected
Early investigations point to an accidental cause, likely a tumble dryer in the garage with a possible equipment fault triggering the blaze.
Safety Warning from Firefighters
Authorities are urging everyone to stay alert when using electrical appliances, especially white goods. “Make sure your appliances are well-maintained, follow manufacturer instructions, and register products for recalls,” said Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
They stressed that these simple steps can prevent accidents and protect households from fire risks.
