Heroic Rescue Attempt Ends in Tragedy on Lincolnshire Coast
A 60-year-old man lost his life trying to save two children from the sea near Ingoldmells, a popular seaside spot close to Skegness, on Sunday, May 25.
Lincolnshire Police say the man jumped in just after 4pm when he saw the children struggling. But he soon got into trouble himself. Despite a swift response from HM Coastguard, the RNLI, and Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency Teams Unable to Save Brave Good Samaritan
The dramatic incident unfolded near the promenade, where emergency vehicles and air support were quickly on the scene. Authorities have not revealed the identity of the man or updated on the condition of the children involved.
“A 60-year-old man has sadly died after entering the water to help two children who appeared to be in distress. He got into difficulty and sadly died at the scene. Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this very sad time.” – Police spokesperson
